Question
Thank you for your last reply, I will start stripping that machine. I now have another machine. The brew unit jammed. I removed it by releasing the funnel. Turned machine on and off and it remained at 180 degree out. Removed the gears and reset with arrow pointing at the centre of the white drive spindle, it cycled and returned to 180 out. I disassembled again and reset with 'H' at the dot on the lower micro switch, tested both switches and both ok. Turned on again without brew group and it cycled to correct position. Installed brew unit and made coffee, jammed again in the 180 position, removed brew unit, switched off and on and it cycled again to 180 degrees out

There are a few possibilities for this issue as well. The switches might be mixed up or in case the resistance value of one of the switches is not the same as that of a new one, then it's the same as a faulty switch. These machines don't use the switches in a conventional way. Each has a specific resistance attached to it on the power board and the CPU can differentiate between the switches by this resistance value. So in case the switches are worn out or the SMD resistances on the power board are faulty, then the described symptom will occur.
