Gaggia Brera - Unused grounds in brew group

Question
Our machine is working fine but there is a large amount of unused grounds collecting around the base of the brew group, door, etc. It is a huge mess and seems like a big waste. I have to use a vacuum to clean it properly. We use Lavazza Super Crema beans. We have a Brera now, but had a Synchrony Logic before and the difference (regarding this issue) is very noticeable.
Expert Answer
The machine has not got a physical scale. It measures the quantity of the grind by impulses from the grinder. The CPU resets the grinding quantity if the quantity of the last grind was not adequate. However this procedure leaves some waste ground coffee behind. Lack of cleaning and lubrication of the brew unit can trigger an adjustment procedure for the CPU.
